The Kazakhstan Interdepartmental Commission for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has adopted a number of changes in the regulations applicable to foreigners in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular:
All foreign nationals and stateless persons whose Kazakhstan travel documents, permanent or temporary residence permits and visas have expired or will expire by 5 June 2021 may leave the Republic of Kazakhstan without any administrative sanctions.
All foreign nationals and stateless persons –
- who are holding work permits or professional compliance certificates issued by local authorities for their self-employment in Kazakhstan [who are issued visas or temporary residence permits regardless of the purpose of their visit];
- who are staying in Kazakhstan for the purpose of their families reunification and who have no way of furnishing the documents issued by their home countries [who are issued visas regardless of the purpose of their visit]; and
- who have applied for extension or renewal of their labour immigration permits [issued without any consideration given to Article 43-1(2) of the Kazakhstan Migration Law],
are permitted to stay in the Republic of Kazakhstan – and their visas and temporary residence permits may be accordingly extended – until 5 June 2021.
Therefore, prior to 5 June 2021, all foreign nationals and stateless persons should enquire with migration authorities and verify their legal status; otherwise they will be held liable under Kazakhstan administrative law.
